This small needlepoint design by Animal Fayre was inspired by an illustration in the Book of Kells. It depicts a peacock-like bird from the top of a column. The Book of Kells was written around 800AD and is one of the most beautifully illuminated manuscripts in the world. It is now held in the Old Library at Trinity College Oxford (UK). Worked in Victorian cross-stitch on 10hpi canvas, the finished piece will measure 7.5″x7.5″, 17.8×17.8cm. The finished piece looks lovely as a small cushion or an insert in a larger cushion.
