Zweigart canvas is 100% cotton and used by most quality needlepoint kit makers.
Double thread canvas is also known as Penelope Canvas. It effectively 10hpi canvas, but has two threads for each waft and weave of the canvas.
This has two main benefits:
– You can do large (10hpi) stitches and small (20hpi) stitches on the same piece of canvas. This is known as Grosspoint and Petitpoint. The petitpoint is used for detail, e.g. a face, whereas the grosspoint allow ths rest of the canvas to be covered more quickly than would otherwise be possible.
– The larger stitches are held across the whole square, so, even if your are a tight stitcher, the canvas coverage will be good.
Double Thread canvas is only 90cm wide.
